    ABOUT

    Oscar Jenkins-Wing (he/him) is a Chinese-Australian composer and performer based in Naarm/Melbourne, Victoria, with a diverse portfolio.

    Utilising a combination of acoustic and electronic textures, his work materialises concepts related to the human condition, as well as relationships with nature, technology, and the modern world. Oscar’s music is characterised by a distinctive blend of minimalism and maximalism, featuring catchy rhythmic pulsations, captivating ambience, and innovative sound design.


    Primarily composing for screen and concert settings, his work has been showcased at leading venues such as the Sydney Opera HouseMelbourne Recital Centrefortyfive downstairs, and the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

    His piece Fanfare opened the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's 2019 School Season, and in the following year, he conducted the premiere of Timescape at the Sydney Opera House with Mount Waverley Secondary College.

    In 2020, Oscar's dark-synth score for the horror short film He Who Walks Among Us, in collaboration with Swinburne University, won Best Score. In 2021 he co-wrote and co-produced the art installation piece Desidero Ergo Sum, which won Box Hill Institute’s Creative Cup.

    His piece City Loops, featuring solo oboe, piano, and electronics (samples recorded around the Melbourne CBD), was nominated for APRA AMCOS’s Chamber Work of the Year Award 2023.

    Oscar was awarded Higher Education Student of the Year in 2022 upon completing a Bachelor of Applied Music (Composition) at Box Hill Institute. He plans to pursue post-graduate study in composition.

    He also writes and performs on keyboards with Pardalote, an emerging five-piece instrumental band, gracing Naarm/Melbourne’s live music scene with tight grooves, seductive melodies, and captivating ambience.
